A NEW IDEA

Skyler and Brett, cousins and lifelong friends, were talking one day in 2018 about their favorite anime. They conversed about the things they loved, hated, and about how anime is a unique medium that elicits strong emotions and is a platform perfect for fascinating and engaging conversation. At that moment, they collectively concocted the idea of an Anime Club -- a group of people who would pick a new show every two weeks, watch it seperately, then get together and discuss it collectively (like a book club). It was a fun idea, but didn't materialize for some time.

ANIME CLUB
Fast forward to 2020, 2 years after the idea for a club was formed, where Brett and Skyler decided to turn the idea into a reality. Starting with just 3 people, and the show "King's Avatar", the Anime Club was born. Throughout the years people were invited to join from all over; family, friends, even random acquaintences at the gym or barber shop started attending.

A pattern of conversation quickly developed in the Club:

• Discuss likes and dislikes

• Talk about the highlights and lowlights of the show

• Give a personal enjoyment rating

• Give a technical rating

This pattern of bi-monthly conversation was engaging for attendees as it was both semi-structured, and gave a data based artifact to recall during future discussions.

Brett, having a background in data analytics and business intelligence, decided to take the Club's rating system to the next level and build a Google Sheet containing the club's statistics and ratings for all anime club shows. 

This pattern of discussion, rating, and tracking took hold in many other groups and attendees expressed the strong desire to share this concept with others. This caused Brett, Skyler, and Braydn to realize that something special had evolved, something other people were interested in hearing/seeing/engaging with, something that would work really well as a Show or Podcast of some kind.

A PODCAST IS BORN

Months of planning, discussions, recording, testing, and design finally gave birth to what you behold today -- a show dedicated to sharing the joy of anime discussion and comparison with a larger audience (YOU!) And so, welcome! Welcome to our extended Anime Club family, welcome to the conversation, and welcome to a crazy idea cooked up by three nerdy friends who love anime. The 3 of us are truly grateful that you checked out our Podcast, whether you were reincarnated or not ;) and hope you enjoy your time here.
